Happy Father's Day

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Thom and Chris looking up old BMX bikes. Chris already has a couple he is rebuilding and that brought back so many memories of when Thom use to ride. Thom even had a Schwinn sponsorship from a local shop one time.
My dad (David), Thom, and Chris all on the couch after Melissa's wonderful brunch.

After brunch we went to play golf with Mom and Greg at the Country Club. We started to hear a distant thunder on hole #4. Then by hole #5 we saw lightning and called the game. Thom was hitting quite the game. He made a double bogey and a bogey. Hollie almost had par on the third hole. Lauren even had some 100 yard swings. I of course ended up frustrated and picked up on hole #3 and 4.

End of season Soccer Party

Soccer Sleepover to celebrate the end of their Indoor Soccer Season. Karen (Lauren's Soccer Coach) hosted the party at her family's cabin. The cabin pictured below was AMAZING! It is located on a private cove out past Gig Harbor. The main floor had a great room, two bathrooms, three or four Large bedrooms, and a wonderful deck over looking the cove. The upstairs had one of those classic bedrooms where there are three twin beds spaced against the wall with soft linens and picture window. It also had a loft bedroom where most the kids slept. Downstairs was a large recreation area. Despite the 20+ kids that were there is was a very relaxing weekend.

As you can see when the tide is out we could walk forever. We saw a variety of sea life. The favorites were crabs, starfish, Moon Snails, Clams that would squirt water at you as you walked over them.
I held eels and a starfish. The picture below is Lauren and a few girls from the soccer team. Hollie reading her book.

As the tide would come back into the cove it would create this small river like area. The kids could grab inner tubes and float towards the back of the cove. Behind this hill when the tide is completely in there is a log that extends over a small pool of water. The girls and coaches all would take turns jumping in, some required extra motivation. They had a great time.

Thom and I had a great time, a huge thank you to Karen for allowing us to spend time in her home.

Lauren's Track Season

Lauren did really well this season, in her heat she would place in the top three. I never did see her actual times for each event. Her favorite event was hurdles, 75 meter dash, and the 100 meter dash. The award she received was voted on by the entire track team. I think she gives off the impression that she was the most improved just because she shy's away at first. Then she explodes, this child can run!

Hollie Golf Banquet 2009

Hollie had her Golf Banquet on June 4th the same night as Lauren's Band Concert. I attended the Golf Banquet at The Old Country Buffet ( I don't care for). Hollie was so thrilled she sat with the whole team and socialized. The coaches got up and spoke about each player. When it came to Hollie they smirked and told us a story. They started it off talking about how Hollie will always come ready, she gets right to it. They described her as one of the guys, she grabs a bucket of balls and takes out her driver and just hits. She can drive it consistently 150 yards however they spoke about how they had to start her in the fourth position. The fourth position is for players who usually double par. The coaches said they always got questioned by the other H.S. coaches when they saw Hollie drive that first ball straight and down the fairway. The reassured them that she was properly placed. See Hollie can drive the ball as she does love that driver. She does not spend any time practicing with her irons or putting. They think she will be one of the better players by Junior year if she works on something besides her driver.

Lauren's Spring Band Performance

NO PICTURE AVAILABLE ! Thom and I had to divide and conquer, he attended Lauren's concert. I do have a great video of her performance and the dance that followed. I am unable to upload it. Lauren performed the, "Star Spangled Banner" and "Windjammer." All the bands and the choir danced at the end for the parents. They did the Cupid Shuffle, it was really funny.

Hollie's Spring Band Concert

Hollie's last band concert of 9th grade! June 2nd 2009. She performed "Dorian Folk Song" and "Pinnacle." The group has really developed and I have to say I enjoy going this performance.
